What Would You Like To Learn This Year?
What would you like to learn this year, that would help your Vacation Rental business get better results?
2014 will be a pivotal year in the VR industry: a few big changes are expected to be introduced by major players, and they may affect the way we’ve been managing our Vacation Rentals so far. So we need to stay focused and updated on what’s going on, what’s working and what may not work anymore without you even knowing it…
If you could sit down and have coffee with an expert in the Vacation Rental Industry today, what would be the TOP two questions you would ask them about what you are most concerned with regarding your Vacation Rental Business?
We are about to organize a hugely impactful online event that will take place in the next months and whose top goal is to help you get better results with your Vacaion Rental Home. We are doing this because we know how frustrating it can be to succeed with your property the way you’d wish, given all the changes the Vacation Rental industry is constantly introducing.
The idea is to gather the Top Industry Experts together online and answer the most pressing questions we all have, so we can all benefit from a combined source of invaluable advice. And it’s going to be free!
But we need your help! If you are ready to take advantage of what will be the most important online event in the Vacation Rental industry in 2014, geared specifically to Vacation Rental Owners like you, please answer the following question below:

Hi Antonio,
As you know I am relatively new with my vacation rental http://www.casitasitges.com. There are several topics that interests me. Some with a broader scope than others.
Here they are:
1) Innovation: what does innovate means for a host and how can we stretch our innovation capabilities to the max?
2) Future: how is the vacation rental business evolving, what are the key things we will see more of in the next few years and, as host, how should we get ready to face the new environment?
3) Setting the right price: a discussion on pricing from leaders in this industry would be helpful. Additionally, if a guest contacts you for a 2, 3 or 4 week stay, how should your rate offer change, if ever?
4) Discuss marketing techniques beyond listing sites.
🙂
ciao”
Great questions Paola, thank you!
We are collecting answers from the threads we launched on forums, focus groups and communities like LinkedIn and so far the response has been quite interesting.
We’ll keep you informed on what’s going to happen next.
Thanks for your contribution!
My 2 topics of choice based on my VR management business would be management model options (taking commission split with owner vs. buying a certain number of nights wholesale from them directly). I am a VR rookie and also want to discuss the best way for managers, owners, and guests to assign responsibility of damage or theft of items by guests discovered at departure. Security deposit or self insurance? Or credit card auth possibility?
Thank you Lindsey! Your topics of choice are quite interesting and I think they resonate with quite a few managers. You may be able to ask this specific question directly to one of the experts we are gathering together for the Vacation Rental World Telesummit, a pretty big and innovative online event we’ll bring in to the public in mid June. The schedule and the agenda are already done for this year, but we are more than open to listen to key topics like yours to either fit them into this session or craft the next edition.
There is one specific expert in the lineup, who I can’t reveal yet, that is a pretty successful property manager along with being an owner at the same time. So great chance to ask your #1 question there! I know you just registered for the event, so you’ll be notified when it’s being broadcasted and get all the information soon.
Anyone interested, can register and attend free of charge during the event at: http://www.VacationRentalWorldSummit.com
We own 8 vacation rental properties and manage all but 1 by ourselves. What we always want to learn more about is effective marketing. We have advertised in local vacation magazines with zero results. Learning to do more on Facebook but not sure it will turn into revenue.
I think many in the industry have a love/hate relationship with the sites such as VRBO/FlipKey etc. Learning more about flying solo is always welcomed as the fees add up and 10% off the top is significant.
Looking forward to learning. Some of our properties can be see at http://www.ArborBreeze.com and http://www.ArbuckleParadise.com (site in processing of being redesigned).
Thanks!
I just checked your site and you’ve done a great job in my opinion. Site looks very clean, easy to use and navigate and looks very professional.
You can never learn enough about effective marketing, so I hope you’ll come out of the Vacation Rental World Summit with some gems of advice that you can implement right away. From what I see on your site, I imagine most of your clientele is somewhat local or comes from not so far away. Am I correct? In other words, did you advertise on local magazines trying to target your ideal customers or you wanted to attract a new audience? Just a couple of questions to try and understand a bit more of your environment and market and figure out which marketing activities may be more appropriate in your case.
Facebook is a world of its own when it comes to promoting Vacation Rentals and you have to approach it correctly, in terms of expectations.
You are right in saying many owners have a love/hate relationship with listing sites. It’s an undisputed fact and so is the actual need to learn more about flying solo, which is why we are organizing the Vacation Rental World Summit. We aim to give our audience a few invaluable tools to learn how to fly solo safely and get to the promised land on a smooth flight.
We look forward to seeing you participating in the Summit in June.
Most of our guest come from a 250 mile radius. We advertised in local magazines which focus on the area. These travel guides are distributed through out the region. Unfortunately the only result we saw was decrease in the cash it cost us to advertise.
Not sure the dates will work out for us to attend but hope to next year. I may participate virtually after the fact! I look forward to learning.
If you can make it to attend during the event that’ll be awesome. If not, we’ll make the entire recordings available for a reasonable, risk free fee after the summit, so anyone interested can comfortably watch each session at their own convenience and still make the most of it by interacting with each speaker and within the community well after the event is over (since we believe in building long-lasting, mutually rewarding relationships).
We strongly believe you’ll find it highly beneficial for your marketing efforts and if that’s not the case, you’ll always have the chance to get back to us and we’ll give you back the fee! 🙂
